The Local Primary Healthcare Team
The following healthcare professionals, employed by local Care Trusts, are based within our surgeries.
Community Nursing Team & Community Matron
They provide a wide range of services to patients who are housebound (those patients who cannot attend any appointments such as hairdressing or podiatry), including diabetic care, wound care, continence care and terminal care. The Community Nursing Team, who are based at Tower House Surgery, provide holistic assessment within the home setting, liaising with health care professionals and other agencies to maximise the patient's independence and wellbeing at home. The team also link in with various clinics that patients can access including continence and lower limb therapy service.
Out of Hours Community Nursing
There is an out of hours nursing team available to provide nursing care outside of the community nursing hours. This team can be contacted on 0300 333 6602.
Health Visiting Team
Health visiting aims to promote health and prevent ill health where possible. It contributes to individual and family health and social wellbeing by offering support and advice on a huge variety of issues, including childhood development, child behaviour management, immunisations, illness prevention and treatment, postnatal depression, special needs and much more.
Templer Midwifery Team
The team is based at Teignmouth Hospital and can be contacted on 01626 770086.
Antenatal clinics are held weekly at both surgeries and appointments are booked through the surgery. You can also see a midwife at Moors Edge Children’s Centre, Heathfield or Teignmouth Children’s Centre and these appointments are arranged from the team base 01626 770086. For a new pregnancy please arrange a double appointment with the midwife 6 to 8 weeks after your last period.
