Keeping Warm This Winter
Posted or Updated on 3 Jan 2025
An amber cold health alert is in effect until the 8th of January.
Low indoor temperatures can have a serious impact on your health, especially if you have medical conditions or are older.
UKHSA suggest heating your home to at least 18 degrees in the rooms that you use regularly.
To keep your home warmer, you can:
1. Reduce draughts by fitting draught excluders around doors, or alternatively use an old towel to cover a gap under a door.
2. Keep your bedroom windows closed at night
3. Wear several layers of thinner clothing - this will keep you warmer than one thicker layer.
4. Ensuring you are eating enough and having hot drinks.
